The beauty of hardwood has made it a popular and long-lasting option for homes all over the world. Wood is a renewable material with the ability to be refinished several times. This makes it an environmentally friendly choice. Hardwood flooring is available today in a wide variety of colors, sizes, grains and species.

To make the best flooring choices for your home it is important to know what hardwood options are available. There are two primary choices for hardwood available in today’s market. These include solid wood flooring, and engineered flooring. Solid wood flooring consists of a solid piece of wood with tongue and groove sides. Engineered flooring is created by stacking thin layers of wood together to create one plank. The final top piece can be factory-finished or unfinished. Unfinished flooring will need to be sanded and finished by your installer once the floor is put in.
